When You’ve Adjusted Too Much

There comes a point when constantly explaining, understanding, and adjusting begins to take something from us.

We explain because we want to be understood. We understand because we value the relationship. We adjust because we want peace and do not want every difference to become a conflict.

But when we keep doing all three without allowing space for our own needs, feelings, and boundaries, we can slowly lose sight of ourselves.

Understanding others does not mean ignoring our own hurt. Adjusting does not mean that we must always be the one who bends. And explaining ourselves repeatedly does not guarantee that someone will choose to understand us.

Sometimes, protecting our peace means recognizing that we have already done enough. We can care about others without abandoning ourselves in the process.

“I explained too much. I understood too much. I adjusted too much. And somewhere along the way, I forgot to protect my own peace.”
