A truly gracious heart does not need to make another person feel small in order to feel important.
We all have moments when we could use our words, position, knowledge, or strength to belittle someone. But having the power to do so does not make it right.
Graciousness is choosing dignity over humiliation. It is being able to correct without insulting, disagree without belittling, and speak honestly without making another person feel insignificant.
We may never know what someone is already carrying within. A careless word can stay with a person far longer than we intended.True character is often seen in how we treat people when we have the opportunity to make ourselves feel bigger at their expense.
“A truly gracious heart never makes another feel small.”
